AUDIO Traficant Speaks At Candidate's Fundraiser

The fundraiser for District House candidate Kurtis Liston brought in a number of attendees that came to support Liston as well as hear from a controversial former congressman.
Former 17th distrcit Congressman James Traficant was on hand at Tangier's in west Akron to meet and greet those in attendance at Liston's fundraiser.
Most of his work centered around his hometown of Youngstown. Traficant was then expelled after being convicted of taking bribes, filing false tax returns, and racketeering, among others. He was sent to prison in 2002.
Traficant, the embattled former U.S. Congressman gave one of his famous no holds barred speeches. He talked about bringing jobs to Ohio and said that intstead of getting wrapped up in labels such as Democrat or Republican, whoever is in office has to work for the people.
Coming from a working class family, it was easy for him to represent the working man and that's who he said he was fighting for.
"Yes I am the son of a truck driver and I believe that by abolishing the income tax ,and the 16th amendment, I will be working for every hard working American."
Liston's speech thanked everyone in attendance, including Traficant, and the Libertarian Party for coming to his fundraiser. Among the many topics he discussed were job creattion in the state of Ohio, emphasizing Akron as well as education and making education affordable.
Kurtis Liston is the Northeast Regional Liasion for the Libertarian Party of Ohio and chose to run for the 44th district house seat.
Even though he has had his difficulties with the Internal Revenue Service, has a strong message for the IRS.
"Get your best hold because I'm coming right at you," he said.
"The IRS operates on fear and it says nothing about fear in the Constitution."
The former Ohio Congressman says he plans on running again for political office. He says he doesn't know when or where, but he does plan on making another run.
" I will run for office again, and the American people need someone who will tell the truth and not bow down to the constituents, but stand on his own two feet."
